Brian Sherman is an entrepreneur, theatre and music executive, literary agent, composer, lyricist, arranger and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IPEX Theatrical Artists (ITA).
A twenty year veteran of the theatre and music industry, Brian specializes in the representation of theatrical writers and their intellectual property, as well as the development, representation and management of iconic IP for live stage shows and experiences around the world. Throughout his career he has worked with or on behalf of the most celebrated authors, shows, brands and catalogs in the history of theatre and music, including Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In The Heights), Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar), Disney Theatricals (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell), Stephen Sondheim (Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd), Jerry Herman (La Cage aux Folles, Hello, Dolly!), Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act), Dean Pitchford (Footloose, Carrie), Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can), Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Seussical), global brands such as Garfield and Mad Libs, and the estates and catalogs of Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Marvin Hamlisch, Irving Berlin and Rodgers & Hammerstein.
Prior to launching ITA in 2019, Brian worked for fifteen years for leading theatrical publishing and licensing firms, including Music Theatre International, Samuel French, Inc. and Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatricals, where he served as Director of Professional Theatrical Licensing. Over the years he has held positions of diverse responsibility encompassing client management, licensing, publishing, marketing and business development. Brian played a pivotal role in integrating the renowned catalogs of R&H Theatricals and Tams-Witmark into Concord Theatricals, after the two organizations were acquired by parent company Concord Music. He has guest lectured at higher educational institutions on disciplines including music publishing, theatrical licensing, songwriting and arts management. Brian began his career as a singer-songwriter and composer-lyricist of musicals, is an alumnus of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, an ASCAP affiliate, and holds a B.A. in music from Muhlenberg College where he studied composition and voice.
